|
|
So struggling to get parts.
Front lower wishbone bushes are a bit shot, so order replacements.
The mits EPC look up and the dealer both say the part is MB430960 for the rearmost bush
https://mitsubishi.epc-data.com/delica_star_wagon/p25w/snpt/front-suspension/front-susp-arm-member/201397,201398/?frame_no=P25W-0303186
See this picture:-
https://photos.app.goo.gl/BN4eW57nEa2Z4Veq9
The one on the left is the new one, the one on the right is what came out.
The new one just won't go in - is it too big? too soft? wrong shape? or is there a way to make the thing go in that I've not found (grease, jubilee clips and a hammer didn't work)
All the other suppliers seem to show the same new bush in pictures (inc suppliers in Russia, Germany, Lithuania etc)
Also can't seem to find any supplier of the whole arm with bushes already pressed in.
So a bit stuck - was there a change in design? and if so what was the part number?
Any help welcomed to get the pig back on the road :-) _________________ The PINK PIG!

Hammering won't work, usually tends to "Spread" the part.
Try "Pulling" the part/s in with a long bolt and suitable sized washer/s
If that don't work - - - Grind down The Diameter a bit

So from looking at this further and looking at the other side it seems the bush I have been sent in just wrong (even though the part no is correct and I've now looked at quite a few websites selling exactly the same), or maybe it is the right one and the rubber is too soft for the 15 tonne press?
Or maybe they were slightly different for older models and I have the wrong part no?
Also the other side seems to have poly bushes fitted (not by me) so now I'm also looking at aftermarket poly bushes - anyone fitted any ever, if so any part/supplier numbers please?
Just to add to the fun it seems the cam bolt is also quite worn (probably the source of the clonking) so need one of them too.

November 2017 I'made the same replacement .... with the same results ( bought from Amayama ) ...
the guys on the shop fitt them by pressure ...
but I remember that I was MAD with them when I discover marks of a sharp blade in the new fitted rubber.
Back then the answer that they gave me was that bushings didn't fitt correctly so they had to trim a bit the rubber.
Seems that the problem was the part and not the guys at shop ... _________________ Mitsos (my car) is a

The one shown on the right in the picture looks to be to be more like part number MB633070
Which is available from Febest:- https://shop.febest.eu/arm-bushing-front-lower-arm-mab-017.html _________________

I also note that the one on the left in your picture is not as wide, along the core length, plus the one on Febest has a serrated edge, so wondered if that has any bearing on what you removed ? _________________

So...after tracking down a friendly L300 parts outlet in Taiwan (!) their answers were:
Yes, they are the correct bushes
Yes, the are bleeeping hard to get in (use a gallon of grease and a 1000 tonne press)
Top tip, remove the metal centre sleeve.
Yes you can get nice new wishbones with everything installed.
https://photos.app.goo.gl/qDjtaGQUggU6evLf8
Just looking at prices and shipping etc (££££+days)
So van still down the road in the garage where they are either going fit the new bush somehow or put the old one back for now to get it off their ramp.
And at the end of the day - it probably wasn't the bush that was clonking - looks like the cam bolt is quite worn so rattling in the sleeve
Luckily this guy has them as well, both types:

So once I have verified reliability etc I'll share his details.
Now, let's hope the garage can get that bush in.... I'd like to be able to afford to eat ;-) _________________ The PINK PIG!

Cripes that sounds like a bit of a saga... I will cross my fingers further pressure is going to work...
I know nothing about pressing bushes in/out, so please do ignore me if this is foolish or silly, but I seem to remember hearing that freezing bushes for a whiile, and heating whatever they are to go in, as well as grease, makes them easier to press in? If the garage hasn't tried that yet, might be worth suggesting? _________________ 1992 L300 Exceed "Selma" |

:?
Sorry to hear this.. I very much hope you will find a suitable replacement wishbone soon...
There was a guy on here not long ago saying he was breaking an L300 (I think down your way somewhere?? By which I mean, Englandshire )... he might have one?
Oddly enough, I've always dreaded those bushings wearing out (much like the manual box)...
Good luck! _________________ 1992 L300 Exceed "Selma" |

Long shot, Roger - are no Mk1 Shogun bushes the same? Or L200? Available through Mitsubishi dealers is why I am suggesting this. _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |
