Hi I am looking for a reliable Deli friendly mechanic / garage. I'm based in Dumfries so anywhere up to an hour from Dumfries in any direction would be good.
I also travel regularly to Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen so anywhere there could also be useful to know as well.
Cheers folks Rich |

Nowhere near Dumfries, but if you are coming through the Central belt, Doune Motors in Doune just north of Stirling is excellent; very small outfit. They've happily looked after my (unusual and at times rusty) L300 since I've had it, for all the jobs I couldn't or didn't want to do, and MOT's.
They're not the quickest or most efficient but get the job done, and done well, and fairly (and at very reasonable prices).
Did my timing belt and associated bits when I first got the vehicle, too.
Will be heading back there shortly for the next MOT... _________________ 1992 L300 Exceed "Selma" |

That’s great to know, I do travel up that way quite often.
It’s only An hour and a half to Stirling so will keep it in mind.
Thanks for responding _________________ HAPPY DAYS - Rich

Rich,
Will be nice to see another Delica around Dumfries (My L400 is sorned at the moment, but my L300 camper is out and about).
I regularly work on a friends L400 who lives a few miles out.
Cheers
Dave. |

We should meet up and have a Delica day out sometime. Thompsons in Penrith (Mardale road estate) MoT and do any general jobs on my L300. They seem to have a soft spot for the old bus. As well as cars, they do a lot of work on trucks, which tells me they do a proper job, and are trustworthy. And their rates are reasonable too. _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

Dave is that you in the Green one? I’ve seen it about a couple of times.
It’s good to know that these is someone that knows their way around a Delica.
I have to admit mechanic is not a strong point of mine.
I’ve only seen one other L400 in Dumfries Parkwd next to the Library in town, Not yours is it?
I’ll give ya a wave next time I see you Dave
Andy
Sounds like a good idea. You can’t beat a good convoy :D
Thompson’s sound perfect for any big jobs that may need doing. _________________ HAPPY DAYS - Rich

Rich,
My L400 is blue, and off the road, and the L300 is a white motorhome conversion.
Sure I will see you around, but I may be in an anonymous vehicle (or my series 1 landrover!).
Cheers,
Dave. |

Forgot to add that Huntingdon road garage do a lot of Mitsi shoguns etc, but not had any work done by them myself.
Worth a try if you are stuck.
