Ridge flattening is a good option discussed today with my friend.
I will give a good cleaning to both, roof panel and window frame, tomorrow in order to have more clear view.
Friday is the day when I will make the next step. so I have some time to decide what to do.
Seems that you are in favour of plan b Lewis. to keep the sunroof as it is. right ? _________________ Mitsos (my car) is a

New day today ....
under the sunlight (actually it was raining today) things look different ..
The Lower side of the window frame is close to perfect .. a bit of cleaning , some sanding and painting and will look like new ...
The upper side of the frame is a mess ..
as you can see the sealant is rotted , some parts are missing and the impression I got today is that it is beyond repair ..
unless if there is a replacement rubber as the one depicted above.
the fact is that the sunroof was not working before ... but I was hoping that with a bit of luck I could fix it.

Looking good. Lets hope the replacement seals fit the glass, as well. _________________

Well done, keep going! I am amazed that it could be as rusty as that in Greece. _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

don't forget that most of this cars are imported from Germany or North Italy.
Bad news ... sunroof sealants came today but don't fit.
last hope in a local shop that imports this kind of rubbers from abroad ... Friday I'll know.
Today, while trying to remove the pld rusty sound barrier from the floor panel, I discovered the inside of the "wet feet syndrome" "repaired" somehow with silicone.
tomorrow I'll use the dremel tool to remove the silicone and find out what is hiden behind.

Hopefully, the silicone was just to repair the leak caused by hardened and cracked original panel seal mastic - which is what causes wet foot syndrome. _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

Great news !!!! :D
I've found new original replacement rubber seal for my sunroof very cheap (15 - 20 euro) ...
the only problem is that fits to a bigger model .. but with a bit of cutting and gluing will be perfect !!!
Finally the internal diving pool will be dry _________________ Mitsos (my car) is a

That would be the very thorough way to do it, but I would definitely clean off that old silicone, and replace with panel mastic. Well done on locating a roof seal. Fingers crossed for a good result. _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

Great day today ...
new sunroof seal installed easily .. there was no need to cut it out ... lets hope that will seal the rain out ...
Question
does anyone ever used THIS kind of materials as sound or heat barrier at the floor panels ? _________________ Mitsos (my car) is a

Be careful, make sure the materials/s can "breathe"
If not, then damp and condensation may get trapped = More rust.

I have used this stuff to seal leaky building roof gutters, but you need to have clean, dry surfaces to get a good leak-proof bond. It is not an insulation product, either sound or heat, except that if you have annoying panel vibration, it might deaden it a bit. _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

there are several videos over the net with users that claim that this kind of material is good - cheaper
substitute of more professional - expensive sound detering stuff ...
What else could I use ? _________________ Mitsos (my car) is a

Most luxury cars have a thicker level of sound insulation under the carpets. See if you can find a scrapped Mercedes or Jaguar or Range Rover or 2! _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

Alternatively, if you are stripping out the rear interior, you should be able to find self-adhesive sound deadening panel pads on e-bay. I haven't looked, but they will be there somewhere. They may even come as a roll, various widths and thicknesses. _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |
