I've seen several pictures / videos on how to remove the EGR valve and it was the first thing in my list to do.
Yesterday i was looking the oil level and i took the above picture because i thought that something missing in this part of the engine.
Seems that the previous owner has made the EGR valve deletion and
i wonder if it has be done correctly because what i see in my car is different on what i've found around the net.  hmmm

I take it yours is a left hand drive as what's in your picture is buried under the driver's seat in my right hand drive.

I can confirm that  if you do have an EGR valve, it is not where mine is. Mine is sticking up like a mushroom, approximately where that bracket is bolted to the top centre of the manifold. As Ian (Fostlongstrider) says, on RHD models, it is covered by the driver's seat, but visible over the cam cover from the engine bay with passenger seat lifted.

The one at bottom left - I think that is it, although slightly different to mine, but has the small pipe coming off it like mine.

Few months later and ....
according to manual , 15 Intake and exhaust (page34) , there is no EGR valve to all pre July 1993 4D56 TD cars ... mine included .
I can't describe how I felt when I discover it today with two  blanking EGR plates in my hand and all air intake tubes removed . :? Embarassed  Shocked and then  Laughing with myself .
Anyway ... i got a pair of brand new plates to my desk.  8-)
The question that is coming now to my mind is ...
where can I mount the EGT Gauge sensor  Question
I was planing to make a hole in one of the blanking plates .. but now this option is gone.
