Looking on USA and Canadian sites for Japanese import vehicles, it seems that L300's are still being exported from Japan. They always look mint as well, and often different model variants than the ones that I see advertised in the Uk, which have usually been in the country for years already.

Look at these ones for example. A company based in Japan sending them to the States.

A chamonix, fresh import to the states 2017. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4aURF9ZyHwY

Another... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pspOXsBWbFs&t=151s

Look at all these as well! http://www.silkroadautos.com/mitsubishi/mits-list.htm

How come non are coming to the UK anymore?

I've wondered this myself, I guess there just aren't any commercial importers in the UK who 're currently doing this? I'm sure if you find a specialist Jap importer they might be able to find you one- for a price. Alternative is importing yourself, but I guess that has lots of uncertainties/risk associated. I for one wouldn't know where to start, but there have been a few posts on here explaining the process.

Two things worth noting.

1. It is cheaper to ship cars across the Pacific, from Japan to the west coast of Canada and the US, than it is to the UK.

2. The Canadians and Americans are paying for more for them than folk over here are prepared to.

Old Japanese vehicles in the UK struggle to gain classic status, and our second -hand market is more ageist than most. So while importers are happy to import later models which can command the higher prices that will hide our higher import costs,  they won't take a risk on old L300s. But it is nice to know that if you want to find a nice clean one, there appears to still be plenty available in Japan, and I dare say you could find an importer who would seek you one out - for the right price. If I had the cash, I would invest in a pop-top.
