I don't know the Lllll Wells one, but if you're looking for cosier then there's also Rukins Keld or, if you fancy proper glamping luxury try Swaledale Yurts which has space for a few campers too. These are NOT within walking distance of the Farmer's Arms, although Swaledale Yurts is just at the bottom of the impressive road leading off the B6270, via West Stonesdale, to Tan Hill. |

It is only for one night, Deker, and we will have shelter in our vans. Upper Swaledale does not have a lot of trees, and at least Usha Gap is relatively sheltered, on flat ground in the valley bottom. And the pub will be cosy! If you do decide to camp somewhere more wooded, just give yourself time to get to Tan Hill in the morning, Dales roads aren't fast! _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

Any ideas yet as to what time you're likely to be at Tan Hill on the Saturday morning? I can't join you on the Friday night but keen to do so on Saturday if the plan is still to meet at Tan Hill and then go on to the Lakes after? _________________ 1992 L300 Exceed "Selma" |

Saturday timings will depend on the events of Friday night in the local hostelry!!! :D
However I reckon we would be there before lunch. _________________ Ian.

I would agree with Ian, arrive Tan Hill between 12 - 12.30, and head out 1.30 - 2.00. If you stayed at Alston, Jeroen, you could get to Tan Hill via Brough and Kaber in no more than 1hr 30mins. _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

Just booked my pitch at Usha Gap for Friday night. It says to book online. £12 for man and van, so happy with that. Tel (01748) 886110. Also rang Coniston Hall. They confirmed no need to book, just turn up and pay, but it is £20 a night for vehicle + 1 or 2 people. I guess that is the Lake District for you. Hope I'll still see you there, still looking forward to it. _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

Hi Folks.
Having been a "Bit Unwell" :? recently I didn't notice the end date for this meet = the 10th.
So, who is contemplating staying Sunday evening
I don't think I can do Friday, I thought that Saturday evening was the last night, which for me would not be worth the 600 (approx.) mile round trip.
However, if some folks will be staying at Coniston Hall site Saturday & Sunday night, I may well reconsider the drive.
I do like Coniston Hall site - My thanks to Andyman for that
I've done Kirkstone Pass, the Wrynose & Hardnott many times.
I would like to see Honister Pass, would be nice in a convoy of more than one. Any one up for it on Sunday
And/or Newlands Pass, and Winlatter pass.
If more than one of us is up for the aforementioned, I will have to get to this meet.
Silly fact about the kirkstone Pass Inn, they have water transported up to them. - - - Perhaps I should go hide someplace - - - Better still, get on me bike.

Mr D, I'll check if I am needed at Center Parcs on the Monday. If not, then I will happily stay another night. If smaller numbers of us, then Chapel House Farm, Borrowdale is a nice little site, and handy for Honister and Newlands. _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

Just going back through this thread to give my number by pm to all who have said they would be coming to this meet, we could be a dozen or more. Anyone intending to come who hasn't got my contact number, please pm me, and I'll drop it by return. _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

Wishful thinking
More than 3, excluding yourself, I would get confuddled with their names :?
'Aving said that, if enough of us, wonder if we could negotiate a discount at Coniston Hall site
Come to think of it, the meet we had there, was the price a tenner
Bear in mind, Easter weekend is the week end after - I think :?

The 2016 prices for Coniston were £2 per car, £8 per adult and £4 per child. Plus additional fees if you took boats or canoes, and 50p for the showers.
So £20 for one person is quite a hike in one year. _________________

Yes, it seems to be anti - singles. You have to pay for 2 people, even when there's only one of you. So bring a friend! _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

Strange how they don't even list their tariffs on their website.
That is the type of business practice, with any company or advert, that tends to have me going elsewhere. _________________

It's a bit late for that now, the problem is most camp sites don't like (largely) single sex groups, and the Lake District is always expensive, especially in peak holiday periods. However, I will try to get hold of the owner, the lad I spoke to didn't sound too authoritative. The plus points are that they are pretty relaxed, it is in a prime location by the lake, and it takes on a fairly Bohemian, festival - like atmosphere. And it is big enough that we should be able to find a patch where we can park up together. Fingers crossed for fine weather. _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

For those camping at Usha Gap on Friday, Cunninglinguist aka Pat says you won't get signal from Nateby in the west, or Gunnerside to the east, or after Hawes to the south. So fingers crossed we don't break down in the Muker triangle. Pat has kindly offered to let us use his wi-fi for getting messages out. _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

Crickey - that price does surprise me. Mind you, for a really good site, I don't mind..
Andy, sorry, I responded to your PM before I saw the latest messages on the thread (have been a bit busy over the last few days!). Sounds like should be all good for just turning up, but if you do hear otherwise please do give a shout...
I sadly will only be staying over with you all for one night at Coniston, but will aim to meet you at Tan Hill at lunchtime on Saturday morning. Will have to head off late afternoon on Sunday.
Looking forward to it, however! _________________ 1992 L300 Exceed "Selma" |

1) How did you find the price
2) That's what I thought the price was when we had the Lakes meet a couple or 3 years back.
Just looked it up = August 2013
3) Too right - Or should that be wrong :?
4) I found a little spot on the "Hardnott" that suits me
Just looked at BBC Weather. Rain for Kirkby Stephen most days that weekend.
Rain at Coniston Friday & Saturday, Sunday looks dry.
As for you guys, be nice to see you again, I like to ogle the scenery. If I can't see it and photograph, not much point going "up" there.
Mr D
