Hi Chaps,
a bit new on here but looking to change the original speakers on my L400.
Wondering what others have done.
Replace original in same location or fitted new in new areas? |

It depends on what you want to achieve, some say the standard wiring is too thin to put much more power through, so if you like it loud and bassy, you are going to have to rewire anyway. If your current speakers have blown or don't give you the tone you like, then try replacing them in the same positions, on the same wires with ones you like, having checked you have a good head unit. On my L300, which has as standard, little speakers, badly positioned in the lower dash, (poor sound quality) as well as the four bigger ones in the back, which still give a good sound if you are in the back, I have fitted two cheapish 4" speakers in mdf boxes overhead/behind me in the cab. Not perfect, but a great improvement. The Sony head unit has a remote control, so I can adjust it from the comfort of my bed in the back! _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

I had to replace my Front door speakers, they had "broken up" the cones.

Did you replace with original parts or go for something new? |

Swapped the original door speakers for some 4" FLI speakers from Halfords as the originals had fallen apart. Need to drill some mounting holes in the plastic surround of the original speakers to fit the new to the existing mount, but a five minute job. I wasn't after audiophile levels of sound, just something that didn't sound terrible.

A) Original parts were U/S
B) New, same size popular make. Not from Maplin.
