How full is your tank? Not sure where the pickup pipe is, but if on braking, all the fuel sloshes to the front, leaving the fuel level low at the pick up pipe, (they are usually near the back so you don't run out of fuel going up hill), and if your pickup pipe has corrosion perforations as suspected, then it is possible it is sucking air on braking!

Hi Andy, it's more than 3/4 full mate. I took it to petrol station and filled it right up to the brim till the pump clicked and then a bit more. Since then it's done a few miles and garage have had it so there's loads still in.

okay, forget that. Let your g/f drive, and see if what she does different to you suggests anything. When you get to A/O, you will be able to get other suggestions!

I had a similar problem, it was drawing air through the filter head primer pump, a primer bulb and in line filter only costs a few quid, by pass the filter head and see how it goes. Your mechanic doesn't seem very good, it's fine just randomly trying things but when its costing you 100's of pounds for him to try things its pretty crap. Have you tried a diesel specialist?

Hi , yeah I dumped the first mechanic who did my head, and found a diesel specialist. He took the pump off and sent it to a specialist who stripped it down and rebuilt it. He then put it back on but tested to see if it was stil sucking air in and it was. He suspected from experience that it was the pipes from the fuel tank that get corroded. Only his missus went into labor yesterday so now he's off and I've took the van for AO and will return it Monday for him to sort properly.
My mate has offered maybe it's timing from having the head done, or maybe injector seals ?
Yeah I'm hoping AO attendees may offer up some sagely wisdom.

Cheers anyhow guys much appreciated.

Grrrrrrrr so the current mechanic highly recommended by my friend who's never had a problem with them ! has just rung me and said that he's just noticed that there is a rear fuel tank on my van as well as the middle one which means he Can't find out where the air is coming in without taking both tanks off. He says he Can't work out how the two tanks are balancing ? For this he says it will take him 3/4 hours and will cost me £160+

Can anyone help so i can advise this guy and save myself some money.

Laughing Cheers Lewis

If £70 is filling my tank up is that just the middle tank ?

Also from my limited knowledge i thought it was just Super Exceeds that had dual tanks, is this true ? My Deli only has Exceed badges on it, but i did notice that the interior upholstery has Super Exceeed badges on. The paperwork is no good as it was listed as a L300 MPV Estate Space Gear.

Independent on what the original buyer ordered, and it also depends if someone has changed parts from a scrap truck

If it's an auto, it has 2 tanks, total capacity 75L. The fuel gauge is not precise or proportionate, so unless you ran it until it stopped, you would be lucky to get much more than £70 into it. My gauge was only just above the bottom line when I left AO, so I filled it up at the first fuel station. It took just under 50L and the needle was then above the top line. I was going to suggest you try to rig up a small gravity feed tank, connecting direct to the injector pump, the tricky bit being to ensure you get no leaks or spillages with the tank on or behind the front seat, flexi pipe leading under the passenger seat, slightly propped. You might also try connecting it to the inlet side of the filter/pump, which makes it easier to bleed through to the injector pump and, if the stalling problem doesn't happen, you know the filter is not to blame. If it still stalls when connected direct to the IP,  you know the tanks and feed pipe are not to blame.

It certainly is wrong, as there is no such model.   Rolling Eyes

The L300 Delica is a Star Wagon.

The L400 Delica is a Space Gear.

Don't know why you had to pay for anything.

You just send your V5, with the correct details filled in, to the DVLA and they change their database and send you a new form back.

You can buy replacement decals, as shown on the photo above, to put on the Deli. Then take a photo to send in with your V5.

Seats and exterior badges can always be changed, but the bodywork codes cannot.

The chassis codes tell you almost everything.

The L300 Super Exceed has a bodywork code of HSRGT2
