If you should be at or near Heysham, Cumbria. Or have a long wait for the Steam Racket Boat (You can walk from the ferry terminal)
This place has a brilliant view of Morecambe Bay. The Lake District. And St. Patrick's Chapel.

To the South is the ferry terminal and Heysham Nuclear Power Station.



To be seen very close to the Chapel are the coffins, cut into solid bedrock.

My first visit 1994, was on me bike,  CX 500C, with a friend, we managed to park our bikes up a road that leads to St. Paul's Chapel.
To get there, you need to find somewhere to park a car, then walk to St. Paul's Chapel, keep going till you reach the headland.

In St. Paul's Chapel you can sign the visitors Register. Look thro the register, you may see that someone from your part of the country has been there.

It makes me sad to think that I may never go there again on a bike, I was 53    on my first visit.
We "wild camped" overnight there.

Heysham - very much a place of two halves, - the attractive old village with it's narrow streets, and historic headland and, as you say, within a mile south, the ferry port, power station and industrial zone. Try Silverdale, and Jenny Brown's Point, a few miles north of Morecambe. Lots of little wooded, rocky hills, dropping down to the coast.

We once booked a campsite called 'ocean edge' at Heysham,  pics and write up made it look great until we got there and it was next to the power station and at 10pm every night the seacat came in sounding like a formula one car.....
