If this is near your neck of the woods check out www.airrads.co.uk.

The actual place looks a bit run down but the guy was very friendly and recharged myaircon on the spot. No booking in or whatever. £64.63 incl. vat.

They look as if they know the biz with all aspects of vehicle cooling so I'll check them out first if I get any other problems.
