Doing some tidying up on my hard drive and found this, so I thought I would put it here.

Not sure if the details are published elsewhere.  If so then perhaps a mod can delete as appropriate!  Wink

Mitsubishi Japanese notice Vehicle Recalls

Confirm vehicle original production - status with importer/dealer

Case: RJ-0978-0
Models covered: MITSUBISHI Delica

Japanese official recall case number: RJ-0978-0
Date issued: 2/9/2003

Number of affected vehicles: 2446
Production period: 10/04/2002 - 30/07/2003
Faulty component: seat belt

Description: The spindle in the tensioner of the two-point seat belt installed on the second row rotatable bench seat is improperly formed. Because of this, the lock mechanism of the belt may not function properly. As a result, an occupant or a child seat may not be held on impact of collision. Also, when the seat belt is forcibly pulled out for installing a child seat, its internal part may get damaged, and it may become impossible to retract the belt.

How to fix the problem:
The seat belt assemblies on the bench seat should be replaced with non-defective ones.

How can you tell if the problem has already been checked and/or fixed on your vehicle?
white or yellow paint on the lower bolt head on the upper door hinge on the passenger's side

If you are concerned but confused, you should get a mechanic to check the model number and frame number of your vehicle, then check to see if it is included in the lists below.

Case: RJ-0843-0
Models covered: MITSUBISHI Delica

Japanese official recall case number: RJ-0843-0
Date issued: 30/05/2002

Number of affected vehicles: 28
Production period: 03/11/1995 - 03/04/2002
Faulty component: brake

Description: For welfare vehicles whose floor is modified to accommodate a wheelchair, vehicle body vibration may cause interference between the left brake bracket and the lateral rod due to improper shape of the bracket. At worst, the joint between the brake hose and the brake tube becomes deformed, and brake fluid leaks, resulting in reduced brake efficiency.

How to fix the problem:
The brake hose bracket should be inspected, and if any abnormality is found, the bracket should be replaced with the factory approved replacement unit and both the brake hose and tube should be replaced with new ones. Incidentally, the lateral rod and the floor reinforcing should be replaced with the improved items.

How can you tell if the problem has already been checked and/or fixed on your vehicle?

Case: KJ-0334-0
Models covered: MITSUBISHI MINICAB, MITSUBISHI TOWNBOX, MITSUBISHI Delica, NISSAN CLIPPER

Japanese official recall case number: KJ-0334-0
Date issued: 18/10/2006

Number of affected vehicles: 1730
Production period: 03/11/1995 - 13/09/2004
Faulty component: welfare vehicles (tailgate lift)

Description: For the welfare vehicles that are modified to have a tailgate lift, the weight sensor that is to detect if a wheel chair is loaded has an exposed switch terminal. If a hook of the shock absorber spring breaks, the spring may touch the switch terminal, and in the worst case, the lift might operate even when the operational switch is not manually operated.

How to fix the problem:
Insulation material should be placed on the terminal of the weight detection switch, and the 4 springs should be replaced with new ones. Also a caution label should be placed.

How can you tell if the problem has already been checked and/or fixed on your vehicle?

Case: RJ-1295-1
Models covered: MAZDA BONGO, MITSUBISHI Delica(VAN), MITSUBISHI Delica(TRUCK), NISSAN VANETTE

Japanese official recall case number: RJ-1295-1
Date issued: 11/11/2004

Number of affected vehicles: 36714
Production period: 10/05/1999 - 30/10/2004
Faulty component: front hub bearings

Description: For the front hub bearings of 4WD vehicles, the structure of the knuckles where the bearings are force fitted is improper, and therefore, muddy water can remain there and cause the oil seal to wear and lose its effectiveness. In such a case, the muddy water may enter into the bearing, which can force the grease out of the bearings leading to abnormal noise. If this problem is left unattended, in the worst case, the bearings could break causing the vehicle to stall.

How to fix the problem:
The knuckles should be replaced with the factory approved replacement units that includes the bearings. Incidentally, it will take time to supply all the factory approved replacement units, and therefore as a temporary measure, the bearings should be inspected for wear, and the one with abnormality should be replaced with a new.

How can you tell if the problem has already been checked and/or fixed on your vehicle?
sticker on the back of the fuse box cover located inside the passengers compartment, pale blue one for the temporary measure, blue one for the permanent factory approved replacement

Note that dates above list when the vehicle was MADE, not when the vehicle was SOLD. For example, a vehicle made in 1999 may be listed on your ownership papers as a year 2000 model. The only really reliable way to check if your vehicle is affected by a recall is to use the manufacturer's MODEL NUMBERS and FRAME NUMBERS listed above. If you are concerned but confused, you should get a mechanic to check the model number and frame number of your vehicle, then check to see if it is included in the lists below.

Case: RJ-1867-0
Models covered: NISSAN VANETTE, MAZDA BONGO, MAZDA BONGO BRAWNY, MITSUBISHI Delica

Japanese official recall case number: RJ-1867-0
Date issued: 12/04/2007

Number of affected vehicles: 5417
Production period: 01/12/2003 - 12/11/2005
Faulty component: automatic transmission control unit

Description: There is a glitch in the hydraulic pressure control program of the automatic transmission control unit, and therefore, the lubrication in the automatic transmission may not be properly maintained. If this problem is left unattended, the needle bearing of the pinion gear may break. If such breakage occurs, a fragment of the bearing may be caught in the gear, and this may cause the surrounding parts to wear. If abrasion powder blocks the oil strainer, the hydraulic pressure may drop, and this could make gear changing impossible and in the worst case cause the vehicle to stall.

How to fix the problem:
The automatic transmission control unit should be replaced with the factory approved replacement unit. Also, the automatic transmission should be inspected for heat damage, and if there is, it should be replaced with a new one.

How can you tell if the problem has already been checked and/or fixed on your vehicle?
yellow paint on the left hand side of the converter housing of the automatic transmission

Which company reported this fault? NISSAN

Tokyo, Oct 4, 2007 (Jiji Press) - Mitsubishi Motors Corp. <7211> notified the transport ministry on Thursday that it is recalling the Toppo BJ minivehicle and the Delica minivan for free repairs because of defects in engine-linked components.

Subject to the recall are 34,850 units of the Toppo BJ manufactured between September 1998 and August 2002 and 1,784 units of the Delica made in March this year.

According to Mitsubishi Motors, the air inlet portion of the Toppo BJ's intercooler may fall off.

In the case of the Delica, there is a risk of a fuel leak caused by a faulty attachment part of the fuel pump.

Separately, Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. <7270> told the ministry the same day that it is recalling the Subaru R2 and the Subaru Stella minivehicles because of a door lock defect.

Subject to the recall are a total of 43,422 units produced between July 2006 and July 2007, Fuji Heavy said.
