At the top of the air filter, there seems to be a hose missing on the air intake. It looks like it used to connect to a tube that runs under the drivers seat (visible under the wheel arch). I seem to have a lot of noise coming from the intake when first starting and was wondering if the noise would be ruduced if I re-connected a hose to where it once was??
Anyone else got this missing or connected? Would appreciate any feed back as to advantages/disadvantages to it being there.

I asked exactly this some months ago. It is as designed. The missing
hose is apparently to allow water to flow out and not directly into the air
filter if you scoop it in the intake. It works pretty well in my experience!
If you are not planning on any deep water wading or are mainly driving
on the road then, yes, if you put a length of hose across the gap it does
reduce the noise, mine is currently running like this. But make sure you
REMOVE it BEFORE you go off roading or through a ford etc.

Cheers Dom, i'll give it a whirl. Trying to eliminate where the noise is coming from, thought it was exhaust at first but think it could be this.
