I've been looking on Ebay for a CB but there are so many on there it's just frying my little brain... So I've been wondering whether Package sets are better only looking for a start up rig but don't want anything nasty. What's your views on this???

Hi Evs, I've just had a look at that Rig, for the price its quite good actually, no need to SWR the antenna in as its done already, and a nice little tidy looking rig too. All for the decent price of £70. Roger!!!
Oh And its got the Midland 78 Chassis in too!! Good
Free P&P Gooder
nd
Multiband Gooderer again!!
i would say you Can't go wrong there for your first rig mate. _________________ John (LTM 158)

if it just a normal cd radio they are around 4watts and will be fine to plug into the lighter socket. |

more likely to experience interferance through lighter. get a clean power source from the battery. not too difficult
Cigarette lighter would be fine until you get time to run cables or if your lucky enough to get no interferance. plug it in, start engine and the test other electrics like wipers lights electric blinds etc.
Got a lafayette venus in the frontera and an intek will be going in the Deli when i get chance. |

i ran loads of ham radio stuff through the lighter socket with zero interference but i guess thats down to your radio equipment and electrics in your car. Going straight to the battery is allways the best/safest option but if it only in your car temporarily fag lighter will do. might need to put a inline suppressor on. |

It will fit in fine below your radio and it's simple to wire in directly, without needing a ciggy lighter plug!
Look at this post to see which cable to tap into for power:- http://www.MDOCUK.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=19643

Nice one guys, So is there just simply a power lead or are there any more coming from the CB? Do I just connect to the radio wire? |

Should be 2 wires
One black - negative or earth
One red + positive
I found the radio wire which is live with the first turn me the key so you don't forget to turn it off and flatten the battery. _________________ 2nd gear low and go go go!

That's what I do. You may get a little interference this way but you never get a flat battery because its left on.
Not sure without looking which colour is which but easy to find out _________________ 2nd gear low and go go go!

don't forget to fit an external speaker to your CB in that position. the sound can sometimes be very muffled due to lack of airspace |
