And it did work a few pumps after, so I suspect there is a pressure problem, but not sure...

Get a helper to pump the pedal while you look underneath. Thrust arm should move a fair amount, and importantly return again, against the clutch spring (which is extremely powerful, and brings the pedal back up.) If it's flappy, either the thrust arm is broken/dislodged or the clutch has completely failed. But if it is simply not moved by the slave piston (most likely) then you may have air or a seal problem - will need to bleed the system just like brakes. Do not re-use any fluid.

I'm sure someone on here will also suggest you check your ATF Fluid! Razz

Ok! I`ll try to bleed the slave cylinder and see if that helps. By ATF fluid you mean the brake fluid that also goes to the clutch? Thanks..

And the arm at the gearbox moves, both ways, and the pedal comes up again... But no resistance when I push the pedal down..  Question  Very boring when I just bought the car, and replaced the timing belt, balancing belt. All oils and filters. Exept brake fluids of course Confused

Yes,

I had the same issue last year.

Read here: http://www.mdocuk.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=28177&highlight=clutch

The clutch piston did not get back in its original position, actuating the clutch permanently.

Looks like the ribbets at the plate has come loose, resulting in a total failure of the clutch, new clutch kit has been bought in, and will be fitted tomorrow. I`ll put in a few words when the new clutch has been fitted.

So you're saying the clutch assembly / pressure plate itself failed? Was it a genuine Mitsubishi (has a logo stamped on) or pattern? P.S Buy a QUALITY replacement clutch, or possibly genuine if affordable - to avoid the dreaded clutch rattle I now have, and a few other people have experienced (play between spline and clutch plate)

Hi again! The new clutch have been fitted and everything works nicely. It was a total mess! The plates had seperated and the flywheel bearing was laying in pices at the bottom of the gearbox.

I've got that - and a jangly thrust bearing.
Been like it since I bought it (over 5 years)
Getting a bit of judder too now so probably nearly time for a new one!
