Polzeath.

you can even park on the beach in daylight hours, but won't need to if you're on the campsite.

For a bit of sheltered beach drive around to rock on the camel estuary.
We're heading down there mid may - 8 adult and 6 kids!

You could try Perran Sands (Haven). Loads of sand, right off the beach, so not far to walk and all the Haven park bits if the weather's tosh!

Sennan Cove near Lands End, Loads around Penzance.......
Other than that, it's Cornwall, so you're never that far from the beach anywhere!!!!!!!

North Coast is better for long sandy beaches, Carbis Bay/Hayle all the way up to Newquay, while the south coast is a bit more stoney (Praa Sands not-withstanding).
St Ives is a nightmare for traffic in the summer, we usually try to avoid it!

Depends what you're after really......................

Looking at Watergate bay near Newquay as my 14 year old son was reluctant about camping again until i mentioned "skateboard park". Anyone been there before? Thanks.

I've been to Watergate Bay Touring Park, at the top of the hill North from the beach. Good site, 5 mins walk to the beach. There's a good bar on the beach (with Jamie Oliver's restaurant 15 above it, corking lunch at a reasonable price) and a nice pub, the Phoenix, nearby too. Loads of activities (surfing, plus there's an "Extreme Academy" with mountain boarding etc.) Good base to tour from, near to Newquay and Padstow.

So yes, recommended!

Just come back from "The headland" campsite at Tintagel, maiden voyage for the new awning!! Which we're well happy with   :D

Nice site, although basic, wicked scenery and nice walks, and good pubs in Tintagel that serve 'Old Rattler' cider which does the job occasion5
