Vehicle L300-papers say 1994 but I think older by look of others on site
Mileage - 233K +
Usage - Whenever I can get away,Virtually all on gravel/dirt
Major Failures - None so Far fingers X'd
Ongoing - All the usual, wet footwells(hope to get some good weather this coming summer to deal with them),front fogs just got major stone rash to one so got some new ones to fit, also a pair of spots(can't get enough light on the roads!? here as sheep are definitely suicidal).Making conversion to Camper for awaydays.
Recurring - Indicators stick on now and again despite cleaning switchgear, starting slow sometimes but in process of wiring in second half of battery.
Otherwise great fun to drive and gets me all over the place.
Ian. |

Type = L400 2.8 TD LWB 4WD 1995 model, Black over Silver, standard alloys & 4x new Forta FT-7 tyres @ standard size
Miles = 100k (160k/kilometers)
Owners = I'm the 2nd in the UK (imported @ 75k and bought by me @ 100k)
Usage = 2nd car/go-anywhere adventure camper wagon:) Keep my Lexus LS400 as my motorway bus (mega comfort & 70mph @ 32mpg takes some beating)
Major failure = Nil (only covered 1000 kilometers so cross fingers)
Works needed/done = 4x new Glow plugs (only one working on purchase!)
Heavily worn front seats (seat covers cured that one)
Rocker cover gasket (leaking oil down the engine block)
EGR valve (leaking oil over the inlet and exhaust manifolds, not sure what to do with it yet?)
Clunking suspension (which i suspect will be anti-roll bar/drop links)
The usual full oil changes of everything (engine, g'box & diffs)
Expansion tank has discoloration and the bonnet/wing gap UV white strip across it (will need replacing in due course)
Minor rear diff whine @ 45/50 mph (very minor, will add Molyslip when oil is changed)
Recurring = Not owned long enough (though looks to be built very strongly indeed)
Overall Opinion = LOVE MY Delica!!! (what a brilliant do-everything vehicle...if I had to just own one car, this would be it! but, with cruise control fitted!)
Cheers JD:) |

1992 L-300 GLX base model (named Hazel)
Got her with 64,000km 10 months ago and are now closing in on 81,000km
turbo diesel ( I know of a couple of petrol models motoring about over here).
One owner in Japan (used it for ski trips, mostly) then us.
Had a major mechanical refit done when we first got her - drive belts and timing belt, tensioners, re-cored rad, had the perma-locked flanges switched out for manual locking hubs, new rear hatch struts, and all fluids changed, bearing repacked etc. (about $2000.00 CND$) worth of refit work.
Popout windows still leak so have new seals ordered... Still waiting - soon, I hope....
Motoring great. We use the bus for our work as independent gardeners (towing a utility trailer daily), as a recreation vehicle for caving in the rugged mountains of Vancouver Island, and as an about town grocery getter.
Over all we LOVE our Delica. Great interior space coupled with the 4x4 capability make it ideal for us. My only complaint is that we have to wait until they are 15 year old Japanese cast-offs - I want a NEW one!!!! :D |

I've done a quick round up of the results so far. Some gaps that could probably be filled with more knowledge of the vehicles.
I've left out all mention of glow plugs and oil changes etc. as they're just service items and should be changed regularly anyway. :D

L400 Super Exceed.
Imported August 2007. I bought it October 2007 from a dealer. Paid top money but it is in excellent condition.
Only cost has been the 'bling' and regular servicing, which is done by local garage.
Just had new glow plugs (club shop) and rear brake pads.
Other than that it has been totally trouble free.

Vehcile type: L400 Super Exceed 1994 on an 'M' Reg :D
Engine: 2.8 TDI :D
Mileage and use: 143,000, Daily, work, shopping, just cruzen man
Major faliure: Front Discs, Pads and Calipers (Binding)
Remedial work required: Pulls Left, need Wheel Alignment
Reoccuring fault: Flat battery, even if i leave the doors open for a few hours.
Found if i turn All interior lights off it holds the charge longer.
1st time it was the rear passenger kerb door light, left on by my 2 year old.
Wheel studs kept shearing off, All on the right side, Front and rear, i think that
was down to the last owner over tourqing them, I've done the correct tourque
110nm and they seem fine Fingers x'd
