Is it at all possible to tow from an L400 bumper?  I have a 14' inflatable boat with 25HP motor and small trailer that I want to tow.  It's difficult to get hitch assemblies installed in Japan and I was wondering how much the factory bumper can handle if I install a ball-mount to the bumper.  Suggestions?

No way, I'm afraid. Must use an approved towbar assembly here and I suspect over there too...

This is ironic isn't it? Somebody from Japan enquiring about a Delica on a UK forum!

Welcome Leblanc1, I have no idea of regulations in Japan, but certainly in the UK that would not be allowed.

The tow bar is quite easy to fit, what about enquiring of one of the UK suppliers how much it would cost to ship to Japan?

I presume that in Japan you use the standard 50mm ball fitting that we use in Europe?

Why don't you remove the engine and put it inside and put the inflatable boat on a roof rack? Or even deflat it and fold it up and put it inside.
