Idea
Remembered i read somewhere on these forums that the L300 single piston front brake calipers can be swapped for the Pajero MK2 double piston calipers for more power Question
Are L400 double piston calipers also the same Question
Are these a straight swap Question  (bolt mounts same distance and caliper depth the same etc.)
Any help appreciated, thanks.

Hi Brian,

Sorry for not getting back to you the other day - it's been a bit of a manic weekend for me!

The Pajero 2.8 calipers are identical to the L400 ones and are a straight bolt on 'swap' for the standard L300 ones.

You will need to cut away a small area of the backplate to get them to clear, but this is only thin metal and it's easy to see what needs chopping once you offer the new caliper up. Unfortuately I don't have any pics of the cut backplate.....but it really is obvious when you get around to doing the swap.

Best of luck with the swap and let us see some pics of the finished result.

BTW - here is the original thread where I try out the brake conversion (AFAIK I was the first to figure this out?  :D ) - http://www.MDOCUK.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=20001

From what I can remember, this is the part you need to grind off/cut back to clear the larger caliper (approx area shown as a 'guide')

Thanks Bruce, i knew you would come to the rescue soon  :D
So it's a straight fit... that's half my worries gone.....
Now for the other half of my worries... i have 15 inch wheels, not 16 inch ones so do you know if the inside diameter of the wheels will have enough clearance from the calipers?
Thanks again  Smile

15" wheels are a perfect fit. That's what I'm running......

related to this, is there anything else that needs upgrading on the breaks? can you get uprated brake lines?

I bought some braided hoses four years ago, thinking my soft and inefficient brakes were due to soft rubber flexi-pipes. I never fitted them, as brake fluid dripping onto the floor revealed the problem to be worn out master cylinder seals, made worse by a sticking caliper...CRASH! Embarassed  With both problems sorted, I now have very good brakes - still with the original single-pot calipers and flexi-pipes.
