I'm looking at swapping the original yellow gas lamps on my bars for some more powerful ones. I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me what would be legal / MOTable as in fogs, spots, driving etc. When I hit the switch the sidelights and the yellow ones come on, is this standard?.

Too much coffee I think mate
To be honest I never used the fogs (if that's what they are) but MOT was due today so I flicked em on to try them and thought "Why?" that's why I'm looking at a bit more power :D I was just curious as to the way they came on with the sidelights and what the legal / Mot side was. If I can I'd sooner have driving or spots, don't use fog lights really.
Thanks for the info on it being standard, at least I know someone aint butchered the wiring

I can confirm side lights do come on when you fire up fog lights.
They are not, as you suggest dim, but are directed so as not to cause glare from the fog.
I find them useful on country lanes at night. They light up the grass verge on passenger side.
Try it before you get rid of them.
