Those who own an L300 will know that the dipped beam is not exactly impressive, so if you want excellent vision at night and you`ve got a spare 55 quid , may I suggest PIAA 4100K H3 bulbs, direct replacement bulb but gives that pure white light, as good as a new range rover i would say. Well worth the money.

Is that for the older square lights or the newer flared in ones?

Mine is the later style L300,but if your square lights take the H3 bulbs (the ones with the wire) then you will be able to use the PIAA bulbs. The difference with these bulbs really is impressive over the sstandard halogen ones,I do A lot of night driving and have struggled trying to set the lights correctly and trying digfferent bulbs, but my quest is finally over.

My dipped square units have got "moisture"(known down here as soaking wet) in them and have rusted.
I will be in UK next month and have a part number for replacement units,I will check them out then.
On what passes for roads down here when you have to dip you need as much controlled light as possible to see where the "road" ends and the huge drainage ditches begin!!!!!!!!

Just to check then - the older square-headlight L300 takes H4 bulbs, and the newer-style L300 takes H3 bulbs?
Only asking as all those dodgy eBay "complete vehicle bulb sets" for the L300 combine H4 and 501 (wedge sidelight) bulbs. Never opened the side "turning light" covers, so no idea what sort of bulb those take, but the front sidelights certainly aren't the wedge 501s... So needless to say, won't be going the down the eBay route! But definitely reckon this has to be a compulsory upgrade for us - the original headlight bulbs are horrendously pathetic.
However, couldn't find your E-marked 4100K bulbs though - are they PIAA Chrome White?

Anyone used PIAA Xtreme White Plus at all? Slightly cheaper and E-marked...

I spent quite a bit of time speaking to the chap behind the counter, the 4000k lamps are a good bit cheaper but he did say that he used them both in a an import himself and that there was a noticible difference between the 2. However i think that maybe i was just feeling brave and went for the 4100K, i would imagine that the 4000K would still be a marked improvement over the standard bulb.
So to answer your question the ones i have are the non-E marked 4100K lamps.

Just to say i got my bulbs from a place in Bristol called Motaman, not sure if its a national outfit but if it is may be worth a visit as they seem to be cheaper than most on-line stores.

The outers are the dipped lights on mine and as the reflectors are badly corroded I reckon new ones will do okay for me,the inners(main beam) are okay.
