Hi
Having read through A lot of the threads and Lewis's sticky i decided to see if my EGR was blanked or not or needed a clean as my Mule does smoke a bit under load. Turns out it was blanked at both ends!
I want to run with the EGR working so i can see the difference for myself,so i've given the egr, pipes and intercooler a clean as suggested.
Question is do i need gaskets with the relavent size holes cut into them at both ends or can i just use gasket sealant.
The blanking gaskets were placed between the EGR and the manifold and at the end of the cooper pipe leading to the rear/lower manifold.
Is this a common conversion to do both ends of the system?
Thanks in advance.

Pete this isn't a method I've heard of before but no doubt the long timers may well of done. If I recall correctly the gasket is failry important from reading both on here and the AUS site.

Hope you get sorted, I have mine disabled currently by just popping the pipe off the vacuum feed on the top of the EGR, Mine certainly smokes less now but as for the alleged increase in fuel economy.. Laughing needless to say I haven't seen anything to write home about.

Hope you get sorted.

Made two gaskets and fitted them with some sealant for good measure. The Mule seems to be running better. Quicker off the mark and smoother gear changes.Only driven around town so time will tell on a long run maybe. No noteable increase in smoke either.

I made gaskets from pieces of sheet aluminium, actually blank VIN plates.

Did the job great.

I enjoyed chipping all the carbon from my valve, and cleaning it to get it working nice and smooth.

It was a job worth doing.
