Hi, with winter approaching and the roads likely to get a bit snowy and icy, would I cause my Deli any harm by driving in permanent 4WD? (2.5 super exceed auto)
I have noticed on the changer there is a 4L & a 4H which I presume refers to low & high gears. Can anyone advise if it do any harm, and also are there any max speeds I need to adhere to? _________________ Need Childcare in Wrexham

Hi Matey
I think on the L300 you can only use the 4WD option when off road or on very loose or slippery ground ,I'm sure some of the L300 boys will confirm but I'm pretty sure the system on the 2.5 300s is not suitable for constant use, theres this I've googled that may help also http://www.mitsubishi-motors.co.jp/docs6/history/html/4WD.htm look for the part time section, the Llc and Hlc are functions again used off road in slippery conditions, hope that helps atb

Would only use the 4x4 if you need it as it affects how it steers. Will increase fuel consumption and tyre wear. As you have to do some reversing trickery (or something) to engage the auto free hubs, make sure you aticipate when you will need to use it - have fun! _________________ L300 Black and Silver |

you can only use it on loose or slippy surfaces, engage it when you have stopped then as you move wheel lock light comes on to show the hubs have locked. When you don't need 4WD and pull lever out the light will stay on .You can drive like this if you need to til you need 4WD again or if you reverse a few meteres the light will go out if you go on a hard surface where the wheels won't slip the steering will go very stiff until it locks and you could spend serious money fixing it _________________ Star Wagon super exceed auto(Now sadly gone),Galaxy Ghia 130,Hyundai i800 |

Hi
I have just looked up max speeds in FWD they are:-
2 WD High & 4 WD High is 120 KPH in top gear
4 WD Low is 60KPH in top gear
These are for L300 Auto diesel.

That confuses me even more . Does that mean I can drive in 4H as long as I don't go over 120 KMH Think I'll just pray it doesn't snow _________________ Need Childcare in Wrexham

If the road or off road conditions are bad enough for you to need to use FWD the last thing you should want to be doing is more than 70 mph !
Basically there no great advantage in using FWD in normal every day driving except for petrol stations as you will see your fuel consumption dive into the mid teens.
You need to take it off road to see what these can really do, becuse its sooooo much fun.
enjoy your new toy.
