|
|
The usual suspects (PJ in his MkII Paj, Redneck in his MkI Paj and me in the Mud Monkey) headed out for a day on Salisbury Plains yesterday. Mark Giles accompanied us on the trip (passenger/co-driver in mine) and we had quite a day of it!
We all got stuck at some point.
We all recovered each other at some point.
We all got cold & wet.
We all got caked in mud (not just the cars!)
We all had a FANTASTIC time!!
I nearly tipped mine over and managed to get it properly onto two wheels. I didn't have time to think about it too much - I was laughing myself stupid instead!
Here are some pics of the day.....the one of the wobble ball is 'at rest' and reads somewhere near 40 degrees!!! If you watch how far over the van goes in the video at the bottom, I reckon I must have got near 45 degrees before landing!!
Let me know what you think??
The above vid is a cut-down one of Marks You-tube video which can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cgZ-FwlKds

Good lord
Perhaps the only thing stopping you going over was the weight of mud caked to the underneath. The gravity gods smiled on you that day! |

Was the brownish fluid inside the Deli deposited before or after it nearly tipped over?
You may need to get one of these:- cleaning kit _________________

Obvious why it didn't turn over.
You bikers out there should have spotted it!
Bruce had his knee down!!!
Bruce, you would have got a 10 from me but it's only 8.5, you didn't drive away from it on either vid!
Nice!

Thanks Keith,
I was too busy trying to get some photos of the tilt meter to think of driving off straight away! When it didn't tip, I just knew I had to capture the angle I was sat at because I doubt I'll be trying to recreate it intentionally!?
Redneck ran a winch line under the subframe to keep it from tipping too far while I tried my best to drive off the bank (lots of inching back & forth) and eventually I was free. The winch rope was a great help - and Mike did a superb job of keeping the tension on while giving enough slack for me to move the motor.....
Here is a vid of it....

I would have expected it to go on its side.........and it actually looked like you were trying to get it on its side.
A bit like the feeling you get with a brand new set of knee sliders, and an empty roundabout...... :D _________________ Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity.... |

That's better, I can now make that a 9.5!
Just give me a shout if ever you're up this way and need to borrow a L400 or a Mx5, you've got my number.

I've stitched together some of the video from the day.....this is only a fraction of what we did, but unfortunately, I can't video all of it!
A couple of clips you've already seen, but there is still plenty to see :D
Thank you for your time, we hope you enjoy the film?
