Hi All,
I am going to have a go at polishing my alloy wheels this weekend, they are not in too bad a condition, just a little bit of pitting and a few minor bubbles of surface corrosion. I am planning to use a hard polishing compound at first working through finer and finer compounds and finally finishing with Autosol or Brasso.
Has anyone here done this sucessfully and is there anything I need to look out for or avoid?

I am considering using my Dremel to get to the fiddly bits but I will probably use good old fashioned elbow grease for the majority of the work, depending on results. Once they are finished and sparkling I was going to seal them in clear laquer, I would appreciate any tips or product reccomendations.

Regards,

Ian

when i got my Deli, it just had a set of steel wheels on it.
i got set of original alloys from e-bay, set of 5 for a tenner.
in pretty por nick they were. i just scotched them down and sprayed them silver.
they look real good in matt. this was done well over a year ago and still the they look fine.

Mmmmmm...... Didn't think of painting them, I will have to see how they turn out after I've had a go at cleaning and polishing them. I just had a look at Bruce's post in the L300 forum, looks like I'm gonna have a busy weekend.

This site is a real mine of information, thanks guys.

Regards,

Ian

painting is real quick, took me less 3 hours including drying time to do em all.
the other way is of course lots longer, but they will shine. me, i like the matt look.
