Just digging around and found this : http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/trojan.qhosts.html

Also this bit of bad news (worse news for some than others! ) :

Quote:
Porn pics further poisoned with virus

JPG virus will make you blind

By Nick Farrell: Friday 01 October 2004, 08:38

USENET PROVIDER Easynews says that it has turned up postings of porn pictures that are laced with a program that exploits the Windows JPEG glitch.
Apparently victims who download the pictures from Usenet newsgroups to look at the picture will be infected with one of the early versions of the exploit code.

The exploit then downloads a Trojan horse program onto their hard-drive. This is not a virus, because the hackers have not worked out a way of replicating it, so it seems that the virus writers are still in a proof of concept phase of development.

Symantec says that it is still waiting to see a version of the virus that downloads itself from a webpage using Internet Explorer browser and Outlook.

and this : http://www.cnn.com/2004/TECH/internet/06/25/internet.attack

The good news is, it's not the actual forums at fault.

I suppose the bad news is that it could be resulting from external links that you have visited using a link posted in the forums Sad

As you say, it's always important to have a good anti-virus package AND keep it fully up to date.

Simon
